When new graduates qualify, they have the option of joining a nationally accredited dental practice which has been quality assured by the local Deanery. Antwerp House, including Dr.Preeti Bose, and Raj Wadhwani are accredited as Trainers to coach and mentor new dentists, known as Foundation Dentists (FDs). The training framework is known as Dental Foundation Training (DFT).
The DFT training framework seeks to accomplish the following :
The benefits of Dental Foundation Training for patients is that the Foundation Dentist enters a financially protected environment which enables them to work at their own pace and provide patients with optimum outcomes.
Dental Foundation Training offers a framework to enable the young graduates to excel. As part of this process there is a great owness on the practice to develop support structures and systems not only for the Foundation Dentist, but also for other new recruits, trainee dental nurses. DFT fosters a culture of intra-practice communication and appointment as a training practice is in itself a benchmark of quality.
All DFT trainers receive additional training in being Educational Supervisors, in devising meaningful lesson plans, and in considering the needs and learning styles of the audience in all educational endeavours. Educational supervisors have much opportunity to peer review best practice and improve structures and systems within their own practices.
In short, DFT practices are generally extol all of the virtues which are necessary for excellent patient care through critical analysis, self-audit, peer review and life-long learning which are some of the values that we hold dear within Antwerp Dental Group.
